MISSION

The Foundation aims to promote, disseminate and help activities related to the Visual Arts, in order to perpetuate the memory of Xavier Nogués.

(Article 3 of the Statutes).

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Board of Trustees of the Foundation is made up of Josep Maria Cadena i Catalán (president), Francesc Fontbona de Vallescar (vice-president), Cecília Vidal i Maynou (secretary), Ricard Pedreira i Font (treasurer) and the members Joan-Francesc Ainaud i Escudero, Jacint Berenguer i Casal, Oriol Bohigas and Guardiola and Sandra Moliner i Nuño.

History and main undertakings

* 1969 Constitution of the Xavier Nogués Foundation, on the initiative of his widow Isabel Escalada, for “promoting, disseminating and helping activities related to the visual arts, in order to perpetuate the memory of Xavier Nogués”.

The founding trustees were Jordi Curós i Ventura (painter), Ramon Gonzàlez i Casellas, Josep Pedreira i Fernández (publisher and writer), August Testor i Permanyer and Cecília Vidal i Maynou (technical curator of the Drawing and Engraving Cabinet of the MNAC). The same act also included trustees Joan Ainaud de Lasarte (general director of art museums in Barcelona), who was named President, Raimon Noguera de Guzmán (notary), who was appointed vice president, and Oriol Bohigas and Guardiola (architect). .

* 1972 A bust in bronze, portrait of Xavier Nogués, originally by Josep Dunyach, is deposited in the Museum of Modern Art of Barcelona (now MNAC).

* 1973 To celebrate the Centenary of the birth of Xavier Nogués (1873-1941), the first engraving contest and the first Xavier Nogués Scholarship are summoned, which is attributed to the painter of Olot, Jordi Casacuberta i Codinach.

* 1975 Purchase of a torso for engraving, which is deposited at the Conservatory of the Arts the Book of the School of Arts and Artistic Offices of Barcelona.

* 1979 Edition of XXX Lithographs by Xavier Nogués, printed at the Conservatory of Book Arts in Barcelona, ​​by Cecília Vidal. It is a facsimile reproduction of 30 lithographs and 16 variants. In the prologue, Salvador Espriu states that “In 1937, the Generalitat of Catalonia (…) commissioned Xavier Nogués to present, as a gift, five unique albums containing each of them 30 lithographs (…) preceded by a model prologue by Carles Riba. The great Brugalla laced the specimens. ”

* 1990. Bibliographic edition of the picturesque Catalonia by Xavier Nogués. It is a facsimile reproduction of 50 original drawings by Xavier Nogués. The print run was 500 copies. The first edition is from 1919, edited by Salvat-Papasseit booksellers, from Barcelona.

* 1991 Acquisition and transfer of a torso for engraving, at the School of Arts and Crafts in Tarragona.

Conference by Cecília Vidal, Xavier Nogues Recorder, in Encamp (Andorra)

The writer and journalist, Josep Mª Cadena is named new patron and vice president.

* 1995 Acquisition and transfer of a torso for engraving at the School of Fine Arts in Olot.

Josep Mª. Cadena i Catalán, is named president of the Foundation, by the transfer of Joan Ainaud de Lasarte.

* 1996 Incorporation as new trustees of Joan-Francesc Ainaud i Escudero and Francesc Fontbona de Vallescar.

* 1998 Incorporation as patron of Ricard Pedreira i Font, replacing his father, Josep Pedreira i Fernández.

* 1999 Acquisition and transfer of a torso for engraving, at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vic.

Acquisition of a Landscape at the Maragall Establishments – an oil on canvas by Xavier Nogués of the first period, which the Foundation agrees to deposit at the Garrotxa Regional Museum (Olot).

* 2000 Xavier Nogués Award for artistic career, for the engraver and painter Joan Barbarà. The event took place in the Garrotxa Regional Museum (Olot), accompanied by an exhibition of the engraved work of the same artist.

* 2005 Edition of Joan Barbarà’s book, From Paris to Olot. Reissue of The engravings by Xavier Nogués, published in 1960 by editions of Rosa Vera.

Acquisition of a portrait of Xavier Nogués, original oil by Marià Pidelaserra, deposited at the Foundation’s headquarters.

* 2006 Presentation of the book by Joan Barbarà. From Paris to Olot, to the Bibliophile Fair of the Hotel Majèstic de Barcelona and to the Olot Museum.

* 2009 Calcographic engraving equipment for the engraving classroom of the Escola Massana, Barcelona.

New edition of Jaume Pla’s book, The engravings by Xavier Nogués and presentation at the Biblioteca de Catalunya, by Dolors Lamarca, director of the library, J.Mª. Cadena and Francesc Fontbona.

* 2010 Sponsorship of the 1st. Seminar of Experimental Impression Xavier Nogués, of the Massana School.

Conference on Xavier Nogués, by Josep Mª. Chain, at the Víctor Balaguer Museum Library, in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona.

Sponsorship of the book by Cecília Vidal, Xavier Nogués (1983-1941), edited by Àmbit. These include complementary texts by Joan Ainaud de Lasarte, Josep M. Cadena, Francesc Fontbona, Joan-Francesc Ainaud and Ricard Pedreira.

* 2011 2nd Sponsorship. Seminar of Experimental Impression Xavier Nogués, of the Massana School, Barcelona.

Recovery procedures (not completed) of the Xavier Nogués skylight, located at the noble entrance of the old Coll farmhouse, located in Pallejà (Barcelona).

Dimensions 426 x 271 x 110 cm, was drawn and painted by Xavier Nogués and enamelled by fire by Ricard Crespo.

Sponsorship of the Xavier Nogués exhibition catalog in the collections of the Víctor Balaguer Museum Library, with texts by Cecília Vidal and Mireia Rosich.

The 3rd Xavier Nogués Calcographic Engraving Workshop 2015 on wine, organized by the Hervás Amezcua Foundation for the Arts, was in Gavà, at the engraver’s own workshop.

* 2016 The Xavier Nogués Foundation has sponsored the 7th. Seminar of Experimental Printing Xavier Nogués, from June 27 to July 5, 2016, for students this time, from the ISIA School of Urbino, from the Belli Arti School of Urbino, from the Formative Cycle of il Illustration, of the Formative Cycle of Printed Graphics and of the Degree of the Massana School.

The Xavier Nogués Foundation sponsors the 4th Xavier Nogués Calcographic Engraving Workshop 2016 in the area of ​​Noucentisme, organized by the Hervás Amezcua for the Arts Foundation, in Gavà, at the engraver’s own workshop, from 4 to 25 November 2016 .

* 2018 Incorporation as new employer of the architect Sandra Moliner i Nuño.
